Which eco-friendly car should you buy?

Skoda Fabia Greenline

With the rising fuel and motoring costs, people are slowly being forced to give up on their cars. It is becoming more and more difficult to maintain the running costs of a car. So even if you thought that by buying used cars st. louis, you saved some money; that money will soon be spent in fuelling your car.

Rising costs are being attributed to not only fuel prices but also to a rise in insurance costs which is also dealing a heavy blow to drivers. According to one survey, one in 30 drivers is giving up their car.

In such a situation, if you still are determined to buy a car then you should get an eco-friendly car, or one that is fuel efficient. Luckily, market demands have led to a large supply and variety of eco friendly cars. You can take your pick from them. The best part is that they are affordable too.

1.     Seat Ibiza

This car might not be a latest model, but this is the last generation model Ibiza and works amazingly well. It has a 1.4 litre diesel engine that can give you a 100 mph top speed. It is one of the cheapest green cars around and can be bought in three or five doors.

In spite of its affordable price, the car still has electric front windows, a CD player and a multi-function steering wheel.

2.     Smart fortwo CD1

Another affordable car, it is perfect for city life because of its small and compact size. You can easily make your way down congested streets and also has auto transmission for all the times you are stuck in traffic.

However, as the name suggests, it is built for two people only and has little luggage space.

3.     Skoda Fabia Greenline

This car stands as living proof that Skoda from the Volkswagen group still has its game when it comes to making cars. This is related to the Volkswagen Polo and is very comfortable and spacious. This also has some good luggage space and is one of the cheapest and most reliable green cars in the market.

4.     Fort Fiesta ECOnetic

This car is surely for the hardcore green enthusiast. If you love driving and yet want to go the green way, the ECOnetic is the right thing for you. It’s a brilliant ride as well.

The ECOnetic has a 1.67 litre diesel engine with 84 bhp. It can give you from 0 to 62mph in 12.3 seconds. Also, the top speed is 111 mph. For a green car, that’s some good statistics. Again, you can go in for the three door or five door option. The car comes with electric front windows and ESP (electronic stability programme).

5.     Volvo C30

A common complaint with many green cars is that they feel flimsy because of the lightweight nature of the construction material. With this Volvo, there is no such feel except a solid one.

It is a very stylish car, however it comes with a 4 seater and a small luggage space only. It has a 1.6 litre diesel engine. If you are going for this, don’t buy the earlier model from used cars st. louis, go for the facelifted one which has the stop and start. This model emits under 100g of carbon dioxide per kilometre.

This is in no way a comprehensive list. There are many more green cars available in the market, especially Volvo with quite a few models under its belt. Make sure that the eco car you buy has the 100g/km and below threshold of CO2 emissions.
